The Parent & Student Handbook sets out the school’s policies, expectations, and procedures, so you can find the answer when needed.

Common questions

The policies families ask about most.

The handbook is the full record. These are the policies parents most often need in a hurry, explained plainly.

Attendance and the school day

The school day runs from 8:00 to 3:25, and a student who arrives after 8:05 is marked tardy. From Kindergarten through Grade 9, children must attend the full day: Arkansas law requires it, so an early pick-up for a K–9 student is not a routine option. Families of preschool children are different, and may pick their child up early or at any time in the day.

Enrollment is full-time at every stage. The school does not offer part-time places or a reduced number of days per week.

Accommodations

Accommodations for a student’s learning are agreed through a meeting with administration, and only with administration’s approval, under certain conditions and with proper documentation. If your child has a diagnosis or report, bring it: the documentation is what the decision rests on.

Clubs and lunch

No child joins an after-school club without a parent’s consent, and clubs carry a sign-up fee. School lunch is ordered by the month: families sign up and commit for the whole month, at $9 per meal.

In our words

K-9 is required by state law to attend school for the full day and meet state educational requirements.

Our classrooms

Boys and girls learn in the same classrooms.

The Huda Academy provides mixed gender learning environments for all grades pre-k through 12th grade with a focus on creating inclusive, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classrooms for all students. Based on school vision we educate students on how to appropriately interact socially with students of the opposite gender to prepare them for society.Needs fixing

What that means day to day

Boys and girls are taught together at every stage of the school. The school sees this as part of its vision: children learn how to behave appropriately with classmates of the opposite gender, so that they leave ready for the society they will live and work in. Each classroom is set up for the age of the children in it.

Where the school does separate

School teams are the exception. The volleyball team is for girls and the soccer team is for boys. If you have questions about how the policy applies to your child’s class or age group, the school office will talk it through with you.

The full handbook

Everything else is in the handbook itself.

The Parent & Student Handbook sets out the school’s policies, expectations and procedures in full. Every family should read it before the year begins.

Download the handbook

The current handbook will be available to download here as a PDF, so it can be read on a phone, printed, or kept for reference through the year.

The school will confirm

The current Parent & Student Handbook as a PDF, the school year it applies to, and the date it was last updated.

What it covers

A school handbook is where the detail lives: attendance and tardiness, behavior expectations, the dress code, health and medication, emergencies, and the fees and payments that go with enrollment. Where this website gives a summary, the handbook is the version the school holds families to.

The school will confirm

The fee section of the handbook. The previous handbook names a registration fee, a building fee, a book fee and a cot fee, while the school has since said there is one tuition amount with no breakdown. Which is current?

Still have a question?

When in doubt, ask us.

If the handbook does not settle it, the school office will give you a clear answer rather than a guess.
