About & People

Our school board.Who governs us.

The Huda Academy School Board is the governing body of the school and looks after its mission and long-term direction.

The board’s role

What the board does.

Our School Board holds the school’s mission in trust and sets its long-term direction.

The board does not run the school day to day. Those decisions belong to the principal and the administration.

Those who serve

Our board members.

Our board officers and members, as listed in our Strategic Plan for 2019-2024.

To confirm with the school. These five names are the Huda Academy School Board as it was listed in the school’s 2019–2024 Strategic Plan, written in 2019. Before this goes live, please confirm:
  • Who serves on the board today: is anyone listed here no longer on it, and who has joined since 2019?
  • Each person’s role. The plan names only a Chairman (Ahmed Abuabdou) and a Vice-Chairman (Yasir Sultan). Is there a Secretary or a Treasurer?
  • The spelling of every name.
  • That each member is happy to have their name published on the website.
  • Whether a new strategic plan followed the 2019–2024 plan (the “How the board plans ahead” section below describes the 2019 one), and whether the board still reviews it each year.

Strategic plan
Our plan for 2019-2024.

How the board
plans ahead.

In 2018-19, our board formed a strategic planning committee of board members, staff, students, parents and members of the Little Rock Muslim community. Surveys, town-hall meetings, open forums and focus groups shaped a five-year plan in four areas.

Academics

A regular review of our curriculum, with professional development for teachers and standardized test results to guide the updates.

School culture

Islamic manners in the daily life of our students, and clearer communication between our staff and parents.

Technology

A safe and effective digital learning platform for our students and teachers.

Administration & finance

Up-to-date school policies, board bylaws, leadership training for board members and staff, and careful spending.

A yearly review

The board committed to a yearly review of the plan and of our progress in all four areas.

Board and principal

The board and
the principal.

The board plans for the years ahead. The principal and the administration lead the daily work of the school.

Long-term direction

School Board

Sets our long-term direction and reviews the strategic plan each year.

Day to day

Principal & Administration

Lead our academics and our teachers, keep in touch with families and run the school day.
