A clear path.No surprises.

Our high school follows the Arkansas Department of Education graduation requirements, the same as public schools, so you can plan.

Grade span unconfirmed. This page is not linked from the site menu yet. The school does have a high school - it answered the intake as a school that runs AP and Pre-AP courses, concurrent enrollment with UALR and ADE graduation requirements. What is not settled is how far it currently reaches: every fee, course list and ceremony in the intake stops at Grade 9, and grades 10 to 12 are stated as intent. Nothing here should be published until the school confirms the span.

State requirements

The same requirements as Arkansas public schools.

What a student needs in order to graduate from Huda Academy’s high school is set by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). The school does not write its own version: its requirements are the ones every public high school in the state follows.

The state sets how many credits, sometimes called units, a student must earn in each subject area before graduating, in subjects such as English, math, science and social studies. Because Huda Academy follows those rules, families can plan the high school years against the same requirements used across Arkansas.

The high school does not run one fixed sequence of courses for everyone. Instead, courses are scheduled through the year according to the credit hours the ADE requires and the needs of the students, so what runs in a given year reflects where students are in their credits.

Alongside the state’s courses, high school students keep studying Islamic studies, Qur’an and Arabic, which are taught four times a weekNeeds fixing.

The high school is new and still growing, and no class has graduated from it yet.

In our words

Our requirements are the same as public school.

Beyond the requirements

College credit and test preparation in high school.

Meeting the state’s requirements is the starting point. High school students at Huda Academy can also begin earning college credit, and prepare for the tests colleges ask for.

College credit

Pre-AP, AP and concurrent courses

The high school offers Pre-AP and AP courses in English, math, science and social studies. AP, or Advanced Placement, courses are college-level classes taught to a national syllabus set by the College Board, and each one ends in an exam in May. A strong score can earn college credit or let a student skip an introductory course, depending on the college. Pre-AP courses build the skills a student needs before taking an AP course on.

Students can also take courses concurrently with UALR, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Concurrent enrollment means taking a real college course while still in high school, and the credit usually counts toward both the high school requirements and a college transcript.

Test preparation

ACT and Accuplacer, over the summer

Each summer, the school offers preparation for the ACT and for Accuplacer. The ACT is the college admission test most widely used in Arkansas, and colleges and scholarship programs across the state look at its scores.

Accuplacer is a placement test that colleges use to decide which courses a student is ready for. It is also one of the ways a high school student can qualify for concurrent college courses.

Milestones

The ceremonies that mark each stage.

8th grade takes a trip every year. PreK, Kindergarten, 5th, and 8th grade have a graduation ceremony.

Four points in a child’s time at Huda Academy are marked with a graduation ceremony, each at the end of a stage.

PreK graduation marks the move from the early years into Kindergarten and the full school day. Kindergarten graduation closes the first full-day year. Grade 5 graduation marks the end of elementary school, and Grade 8 graduation the end of middle school, before students move up to high school.

Grade 8 also takes a trip together every year.

The school will confirm

When in the year each ceremony is held, where the Grade 8 trip goes, and how the high school will mark graduation once its first class completes the requirements.
